Relaxation Massage
by giving yourself the gift of relaxation through touch, you can bring ease to the tension in your body and your mind. We all know too well how much we hold in our bodies, the way that stress and repeating physical and emotional patterns can manifest in pain or imbalances. Massage addresses points of constriction and tension within the muscles and connective tissue, allowing for energy and interstitial fluid to flow more freely through the body. Massage guides us into a state of parasympathetic relaxation, the place of rest and digest, where processing can take place, and healing can run its course.

Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue massage targets chronic, persistent pain in the body through a series of techniques that interact with trigger points in the muscle and fascia. By applying pressure to these points, we can persuade them to let go, a process that is inherently neurological. A common misconception about deep tissue is that it should hurt. While the techniques often do illicit a “hurt-so-good” response, that is the sensation of the muscles releasing. I conduct my deep tissue sessions incorporating breath and consent, to prevent shocking the muscles, which can adversely perpetuate the pain-spasm-pain cycle. I prefer to work with deep pressure, deep breathe and deep relaxation to honor and assist the body in its natural inclination to self-heal.

Orthopedic Massage
Orthopedic Massage, often used in conjunction with physical therapy and mindful movement practices, addresses any deviations in posture and gait that may be causing pain and imbalance. Our bodies, the wise vessels that they are, adapt in response to injuries, repetitive movement and emotional guarding. The actions that have an impact on our structure can range anywhere from the way we drive or cut vegetables, to the way we hold our children on our hip. Often these adaptations create tension in our muscles, resulting in discomfort and limited range of motion. For those seeking orthopedic massage, I provide gait and postural analysis. I prefer to work with the client on a treatment plan of recurring sessions to optimize our ability to restore the muscles to their natural states, improving function and quality of life.

Sports massage
Through massage techniques such as tapotement, rocking, friction, stretching and more, that stimulate muscle fibers and increase circulation, we can work together to prepare your muscles for the activity to follow. Whether it is biking, skiing, climbing, running or other, Sports massage can be highly effective in preventing injury and enhancing performance. Post-activity sports massage can include hydrotherapy (ice or heat) to prevent inflammation, stretching and relaxation to bring your muscles back into a state of balance and ease.
